SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – MGM Springfield should be very pleased with their opening weekend at its first casino in Massachusetts. The $960 million casino resort received over 150,000 people in its first three days in business. The official revenue numbers won’t be available until next month once the state Gaming Commission releases their report. However, the headcount exceeded expectations.
The 14.5 acre, Vegas style casino resort occupies 3 city blocks in Springfield. MGM should be happy with those numbers for weekend #1, however, competition is on the horizon. Wynn Resorts is scheduled to open a $2 billion resort near Boston during the summer of 2019.
